Why bother?

Imagine you had any superhero’s power you wanted. Imagine the feeling of flying, of breathing under water, of hanging out with big-shot Hollywood stars. Not even the sky is the limit.

But the practice is ultimately more than just for thrills. From a Western psychological standpoint, one of the most exciting aspects of lucid dreaming is its capacity for what C.G. Jung coined “shadow integration”. Our “shadow” consists of all the aspects (positive and negative) of our psyche that we have unconsciously rejected, disowned and denied. Through lucid dreaming we can actively seek out our shadow aspects, with the intention to integrate and assimilate these into the wholeness of the self.
